Hull Design
Shallow V. Primary stability is the key to comfortable paddling, whether slowing down to relax and take in the sights or coming out of a protected bay into the wind and swells. Although the Pro Tour series has a narrower beam to increase responsiveness, our standard shallow V hull gives paddlers more primary stability. This gives paddlers the ability to push their limits with confidence and comfort no matter what their skill level.
Rocker- All Greenland style kayaks will have increased rocker, this is what gives these boats the versatility that makes them special. However the Pro Tour Series drops the rocker out to a minimal level. Still allowing for comfort and control in large waves and tight rocky shorelines, but with the maximum focus on efficiency and speed for long distance touring. Although it may take more edge control to make these kayaks turn, the compromise pays dividends at the end of the longest paddling days.
Chine
Aggressive Medium. Impex Kayaks tries out some new terminology. A Medium Chine allows the kayak to have excellent secondary stability while edging the kayak, maintaining the comfort and stability that we all demand. This design allows the paddler to edge the boat confidently to obtain a fast turn, without the potential of tripping over hard chines, especially in bigger water and high winds. With the lower rocker profile of the Pro Tour Series, to increase efficiency, we needed to be creative to keep the kayak maneuverable and solid on edge in the rough conditions it was designed for. Hence, the Aggressive Medium. Harder than what we use on out Performance Tour Line, this design allows for more bite on the water for tighter turns. This along with the narrower beam does wonders to get this flatter rockered 18 footer coming around more quickly and gliding gracefully down wave faces. The chine is however not a true hard chine, keeping water flowing smoothly and keeping the kayak more stable on edge, especially in beam seas.
